First, we believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit who lives in our hearts as a spiritual Guide. He is Trinity, three independent persons in One, who has created all the physical world we experience.
Second, we believe that all humans past, present, and future live with a sin-nature, passed on to us from the very first humans, Adam and Eve. Due to this sin-nature, we are not worthy to access a relationship with God without accepting the sacrifice of the sinless Son. We still bend toward sin, but we are redeemed by His blood. No person's sin is better or worse than another's in God's eyes, yet we are called to separate ourselves from the world's ideology and call others to Him.
Jesus did not come into His creation to condemn it, so should humans not condemn other humans for their sins. Yet, Jesus came to attract the sick to the only Healer, Himself. He demonstrated what it looks like to sit among sinners without falling in with them - He called them to a better life. We are called to do the same.
We affirm that the Holy Bible is the Word of God, and we are to live according to its standards, not the modern culture. People from all walks of life will be welcome at TSCA, yet they will be asked to set themselves apart and attempt to follow the Bible's standard.
Education is the means by which to impose a way of thinking onto the next generation.
Synonyms listed on Thesaraus.com include: learning, schooling, literacy, indoctrination, brainwashing, tutelage, and refinement. Wait. Did that list include "brainwashing"? YES! Currently, we tend to verbalize the words brainwashing and indoctrination with some negative inflection, perhaps raising the nose a little to display non-verbal disgust. However, education is all those things. We humans wish to impose upon our people a way of thinking, and which methods are the best to accomplish this goal are under heavy scrutiny.
First, let's discuss the 3 primary types of education in modern America:
Overall, as parents we have the right to remember that this country is founded upon the ideals of a strict moral code, entrepreneurship, raising an informed citizenry, and values that want to uphold individual rights though not at the expense of the many.
Oklahoma is among many states which have laws supporting school-choice. The resurgence of homeschool is thriving, and in our opinion, the best choice for parents to impose their values and faith onto their children - immersion is always more effective than instruction alone.
Unfortunately, homeschooling as an option often becomes an insurmountable challenge for single-parents or dual-income households, such that restrictions of time and money hamper a parent's opportunity to lead their children in the path they believe is the best way to go.
Three Strands Classical Academy offers an alternative way to exert influence over the education of your child. A hybrid, if you will, to fill two specific needs for many families desiring a better education.
TSCA knows that the skills of learning and achieving must be taught to students of every ability; and without imposing unrealistic expectations, each student can strive to reach their personal best.
When parents exert the control they desire over the direction of their children's education, they are welcome to use our services in Study Hall to continue progressing the child through academics while the parents are otherwise unavailable to do so. It also allows for another potential instructor to provide aid in challenging areas, such as reading and math. Not every student receives what they need with only a parent or distant-teacher available.
When parents desire a private academy, and are able to invest in the education through tuition, we can provide the students a small environment in which to grow in their academics, and to learn what it means to love God and others.
TSCA students will receive a firm foundation in reading, spelling, literature, mathematics, Latin, science, and geography. We desire to teach them the skills to learn, which will benefit them throughout their lifetimes. As they develop through adolescence, courses in Logic and Rhetoric will be included, for the long term benefits of learning to think and speak well.
Students may be exposed minimally to other areas of study during the school hours, however, we believe that such pursuits as music, art, and physical activities can be added outside school hours and according to the parent-child decision making.
We believe there are many, many more opportunities to enrich children's education. As a small school, we will begin to provide after-school clubs: Math, Chess, Drama, and Science to name a few. We hope this will be a time for students to engage and enhance their learning in areas of personal interest.
